This Week in Art

November 13-16
Kindergarten students advance their techniques in simulating texture by adding line and clipping with scissors to tearing. They are creating feathers for a Native American puppet. First grade artists are learning about painting techniques as they paint winter trees with varying kinds of greens to create a realistic effect.. Students in Second grade continue to use their math and art skills together to create a Scarecrow Sculpture by using cylinders, spheres, cones, & rectangular prisms. This week we will use a sphere to create the scarecrow head Third grade artists are beginning a "krimp" art pumpkin sculpture this week. They will also be discussing the 2D/3D differences in the pumpkins they have created.   Artists in 4th grade are taking a hands on break from concentrated study of the Elements & Principles of Design  to create a 3D sculpture project with paper.  Fifth graders have  begun an Origami folding project. Did you know Origami is an ancient Japanese Art?
